My Why
Every child deserves the opportunity to discover what they can do.
My work is about walking alongside children, families and early childhood professionals, creating meaningful experiences where strengths are recognised, individual voices are valued and capabilities have opportunities to grow.
Through play, purposeful experiences and responsive relationships, I believe we can nurture confidence, strengthen connections and support every child's individual journey.
A Realisation as a Teacher
THE BEGINNING
For more than 30 years, I have had the privilege of working alongside young children, witnessing their curiosity, strengths and remarkable capabilities. Throughout this time, I have seen how children flourish when they feel understood, supported and connected.
I also came to recognise that within the busy kindergarten environment, some children needed something different — more time, individualised support, a responsive relationship or simply the freedom to explore and develop at their own pace.
These experiences shaped my understanding that meaningful growth is not always about teaching more, but about recognising what each child needs and creating opportunities for their capabilities to emerge.
The Power of Ponies
A DIFFERNT OERSPECTIVE
Through a pony programme introduced at our kindergarten, I began to notice something special.
I observed how interactions with ponies created different opportunities for children to connect, communicate, explore and problem-solve. Children who sometimes found aspects of the kindergarten environment challenging were discovering new ways to participate, express themselves and demonstrate their emerging capabilities.
These experiences encouraged me to look beyond traditional learning environments and consider how meaningful relationships, purposeful experiences and a different setting could open new possibilities for children's confidence, development and wellbeing.
It was an important part of the journey that would eventually shape ENVITY.
Advocating for Children
A PURPOSE TAKES SHAPE
As my understanding grew, so did my desire to do more. I wanted to advocate for children by creating opportunities where their strengths were recognised, their voices were valued and their individual capabilities could emerge.
I came to recognise that supporting children wasn't always about teaching them more or expecting them to fit within a particular way of learning. It was about walking alongside them, understanding their individual needs and providing meaningful experiences that encouraged confidence, independence, resilience and connection.
This became an important foundation of my practice — recognising children for who they are, while supporting them to discover what they are capable of becoming.
Growing Capability Beyond the Child
SUPPORTING THE PROFESSIONAL
As my professional journey evolved, I came to recognise that advocating for children also meant supporting the adults who walk alongside them.
Early childhood educators and professionals play an important role in shaping children's experiences, relationships and opportunities for growth. By strengthening their confidence, understanding and reflective practice, we can create meaningful change that extends beyond individual sessions.
This understanding inspired my growing focus on professional mentoring — creating opportunities for practitioners to reflect, explore different perspectives and develop intentional, responsive approaches that recognise and nurture children's capabilities.
Through ENVITY, I now bring these ideas together, supporting both children and the professionals who influence their everyday experiences.
Bringing It All Together
TODAY
Today, Dianna.K brings together early childhood education, developmental and therapeutic play, emotional wellbeing, meaningful relationships and equine-supported experiences into a connected, capability-focused approach.
Through my professional journey, I came to recognise that capability does not develop through isolated skills or experiences. It grows through connection, opportunity, encouragement and intentional support.
This understanding led to the development of ENVITY — A Dianna.K Framework, grounded in three interconnected foundations: Capability, Growth and Connection.
ENVITY now guides my approach to supporting children's learning, development and emotional wellbeing, while also providing the foundation for mentoring early childhood-focused professionals.
Whether I am walking alongside a child, collaborating with a family or mentoring a practitioner, my purpose remains the same — to recognise strengths, create meaningful opportunities and support individuals to discover and develop their capabilities.

A Little More About Me
Outside my work in early childhood education, much of my time is spent with my horses and ponies at Cynbel Lodge.
Showing, training and caring for horses have been a meaningful part of my life, providing opportunities for patience, persistence, observation and connection.
I enjoy the quieter moments just as much as the achievements — spending time with the ponies, noticing their individual personalities and appreciating the natural environment around me.
These experiences continue to influence how I approach my work with children and professionals, reminding me of the importance of slowing down, remaining curious and recognising the value of small steps.
